A horse park is a large-acreage, not-for-profit facility used primarily for horse shows and other livestock/agricultural events.  A typical horse park is designed to attract regional, national and international competitions and does not compete with pari-mutuel horse racing.

The main thrust of the Orange County Horse & Farm Center facility will be to provide the public with a wide range of equine activities which are informative, competitive and recreational in nature, such as clinics, seminars, demonstrations, programs for the handicapped, horse shows, cross country events, polo, dressage, hunt races, steeple chasing, rodeos, driving shows, combined driving marathons and trail riding.  The OCHFC facility will also be available for a wide range of non-equine activities which are agricultural in nature.

The beauty of a horse park comes from the ability to offer all of these amenities in ONE location.  A horse park needs the ability to host more than one competition per day/weekend and must be able to also attract large regional shows which would bring hundred's of horses to the facility.

There is currently NO OTHER STATE IN THE NORTHEAST with a horse park such as we envision, although these facilities do exist in other states.
